FACILITIES
Our department is well equipped with three PC classrooms and four practice shops: CNC machine, casting, welding, and 10 laboratories. For the fulfillment of our students' requirements, these laboratories include Solid Mechanics, Fluid & Heat Mechanics, Vibration, Mechanism, Three Dimensional Reverse Measurement, Material Testing, Electrical-Mechanical Integration, Precession Extrusion Modeling, and Automatic Control.
Lathe Workshop
The workshop provides lathe machines, drilling machines, and swivel-base bench vises for the purpose of practice and mechanical manufacture study.
General Workshop
The workshop provides vertical milling and grinding machines for the purpose of practice and mechanical manufacture study.
Machine Shop for Molding Practice
The Machine Shop for Molding Practice's extensive equipment include a CNC cutting machine, electro-polishing machine, planer type grinder, cutting tool grinder, high speed precision lathe, and 3D measuring arm, as well as software such as Cimatron, and EUCLID installed in its work station. It offers courses in M.E., such as Introduction to Machinery, CAD/CAM, and Lectures on Numerical Controlled Design and Molding Design. This machine shop not only provides an appropriate site for faculty and graduate students to perform experiments, it also provides an area for people taking extension education course.
Welding Practice Shop
The Welding Practice Shop equipment includes an electric welder, argon welder, grinder, welding protect tool group, and degas equipment. It aims to train students in basic welding technology.
Casting Practice Shop
The equipment of the Casting Practice Shop includes a high frequency furnace, sand mould tool group, and investment caster equipment(dipping machine, injection machine for waxing, sand drenching machine, frit stove, and dew axing stove). This equipment allows students to study casting in both theory and practice.
Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics Lab
The Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics Laboratory serves as special research projects. Its facilities consist of a fan performance test machine, refrigerator performance test machine, air compressor test machine, water impact test machine, venturi flowrate test machine, water pump performance test machine, pipe loss test machine, valve head loss test machine, heat conduction coefficient test machine, water heat exchange test machine, thermometer test machine, and liquid viscosity test machine. This equipment is utilized for fluid mechanics and fluid machinery courses.
Heat Treating Lab
The Heat Treating Laboratory is utilized for the study and practice of heat treatment and non-destructive testing. Its facilities consist of a heat treating furnace, ultrasonic testing equipment, eddy current testing equipment, magnetic powder testing equipment, and liquid penetrating testing equipment.
Precise Injection Molding Lab
The Precise Injection Molding Laboratory is equipped with a microcellular injection molding machine, water-assisted injection molding machine, over-molding machine, hot embossing machine, tensile & Izod test machines, infrared thermo-camera, high speed CCD, and basic molds. It provides basic mechanical strength studies for polymer.
Measurement & Sensitivity Control Lab
Sensitivity Control Laboratory consist of a Michelson laser, Doppler laser, X-Y table, motion stage, encoder, servo control, photo-sensor, position sensor, servo motor, motion control card, and vibration control. The Lab is dedicated to research on precision machines, the structure of high precision inspection systems, as well as vibration control and servo control that schemes out the automatic inspection process flow path via different flow paths between the mechanism modules -- studied in order to choose the appropriate transfer, actuator, sensor component, and controller. The lab emphasizes precision machine frame design, as well as the analysis of integrated mechatronics control and inspection techniques. In order to arrive at the goal of an exact high precision transfer mechanism, auto inspection, and position control, the lab is devoted to linear motion measurement, 3D space geometric error measurement, and the feedback of the signal for motion control by the signal of approved mechanical accuracy.
Super Precision Machining Lab
The main purpose of this lab is to help students understand the application of super precision machining technology in the manufacturing process, as well as the effect of super precision machining technology in experimental procedures. The experiments conducted can facilitate students' understanding of micro EDM, micro ultrasonic machining, magnetic abrasive finishing and abrasive flow machining, as well as help them apply the technology and skills to the super precision machining field.
Materials Testing Lab
The equipment of the Materials Testing Lab includes a tensile testing machine, impact testing machine, fatigue testing machine, wearing testing machine, hardness testing machine, and metallography equipment. This equipment is utilized for the study and practice of mechanical properties and microstructures.
Semiconductor Packaging & Mold Flow Analysis Lab
The Semiconductor Packaging and Mold Flow Analysis Laboratory is equipped with a transfer molding machine, semiconductor analysis software (Moldex 3D), mold flow analysis software (Solid Works & Rhioo), PC, mold, and moldex 3D-stress viewer. This lab provides teachers and students with facilities for Mold Flow analysis, packaging and manufacturing for semiconductors, design of injection molding molds, and principal teaching of injection molding.
Dimensional Metrology Lab
The Dimensional Metrology Laboratory consists of a number of traditional dimensional metrology instruments for measuring both form and size. Lab facilities include a Profile Projector, Surface Roughness Tester, Gauges and Indicators (Gauge blocks, Micrometer), and Gauges (Angle Gauge, Sine bars). In addition to traditional dimensional metrology, the lab features a wide variety of surface finishing and coordinating metrology instruments, including a HP5529 Laser Interferometer, Laser Scanning Micrometer, and 2.5D Profile Projector.
Automatic Control Lab
The Automatic Control Laboratory is equipped with the following platforms: Hydraulics & Pneumatics Control; Electrical Control, PLC Programmable Control, Hydraulics Servo Control platform, and PC Base Programmable Robot Control. This laboratory provides training for students, as well as a research environment for graduate students and teachers. It also offers skills pratice to prepare students for the official skills qualification examination.
CAD/CAM Lab
The CAD/CAM Laboratory provides personal computers and software, such as Solidworks, Powermill, and VisualNastran 4D software for CAD/CAM/CAE learning and practice. It also supports research on product design, structure analysis, and motion simulation.
Processing Automation Lab
The facilities of the Processing Automation Laboratory include MasterCam, Powermill, ProCam software, 2.5D NC machine, and 3D CNC machine. This equipment facilitates the study and practice of machine processing.
Pro/Engineer Lab
The Pro/Engineering Laboratory is equipped with 51 PCs loaded with Pro/E draft software for CAD and CAM operation. Further application software is provided for product designing and manufacturing.
CAD Lab
The CAD Laboratory is equipped with 60 PCs loaded with AutoCAD software for basic computer-assisted drawing, as well as other software.
Micro- and Nano-Materials Surface Analysis Lab
The Micro- and Nano- Materials Surface Analysis Laboratory utilizes scanning electronic microscopy, an energy dispersive spectrometer, nano-identation measurement systems, as well as an atomic force microscopy for surface morphology and microstructure observations, element analysis, and nanohardness measurement. This analysis enables studies of engineering materials.
Reverse Engineer Lab
The Reverse Engineer Laboratory is equipped with 20 PCs loaded with measuring points data analysis software. It also possesses a CMM, laser scanning machine, Rapid Photography (FDM), CNC milling machines, 3D printer and 3D measuring machine arm for 3D model rebuilding and supporting research.
Fuzzy Control Lab
The Fuzzy Control Laboratory focuses on fuzzy control theory and its relevant engineering applications. The achievements of the lab include vibration control using a hierarchical fuzzy controller, active fuzzy damping through piezo-actuator, as well as applications in other related fields. In addition to fostering research, the lab also provides graduate students with equipment for special project studies.
Optics and Vibration Measurement Lab
The Optics and Vibration Measurement Laboratory includes a laser doppler vibrometer, image analysis software, optical measurement system, optical table, optical components, function generator, and power amplifier. It provides a venue for master thesis research as well as special project execution.
Electrochemical Anti-corrosion Lab
The Electrochemical Anti-corrosion Laboratory provides equipment such as a Computer Controlled Potentiostat, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscope, pH meter, and Pure Water Making Machine. These facilities permit the measurement and study of electrochemical and wear corrosion.
Electromechanical Lab
The Electromechanical Laboratory provides facilities such as electronic instruments, electro-mechanical servo systems with various types of sensors, chips and computer peripheral. This equipment facilitates understanding of the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical systems, as well as the applications of servo feedback control.
Image Servo Lab
The Image Servo Laboratory is equipped with systems for image tracking, monitoring, and grabbing control, as well as a six-axis platform. This equipment supports a variety of research on image-based servo control systems. A project is currently underway to transform this lab into a research center for multi-axis motion-control applications.
Computational Mechanics & Mechanism Design Lab
The Computational Mechanics & Mechanism Design Laboratory is equipped with 18 PCs, with software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, Cosmos, FEMLAB , visualNastran 4D , Mathematica, and SPSS. The research focus of this laboratory is mainly on finite element analysis, mechanism simulation, grey system theory, numerical analysis, and quality assurance.
Drawing Classroom
This Drawing Classroom consists of 60 sets of drawing tables, with diagraphs used for the study and practice of mechanical drawing and engineering graphics. In addition to its academic utilization, this room supports special project research.
Intelligent Structure Lab
The Intelligent Structure Laboratory aims to provide students and faculty members with a fine working environment for teaching and research in both the traditional and modern mechanical engineering fields. The facilities include a PC-based Identification System (Actuators, Sensors, Dynamic Signal Analyzer, Amplifier, ME Scope) and PC- based Real Time Control System (A/D and D/A Cards, Cable Connection Boxes,VisSim). In addition, the lab provides CAD Software such as MEMS Pro, Multi-physics Analysis Software such as ANSYS, DYNA. as well as the Micro-System Analysis Software CFD-ACE+MEMS.
