About Us

The General Education Center(GEC), which evolved from the Common Curriculum Program under the Office of Academic Affairs, was established in 2000 with an academic upgrade from the Chien Hsin Industrial Junior College to the Ching Yun Institute of Technology. Dr. Zhuang, Chao-Quan was the first GEC director. Dr. Yeh, Yong-Tian took Dr. Zhuang's place as the second director in 2002. As the Institute was further renamed the Ching Yun Institute of Technology in 2003, the College of Humanities and Social Science (CHSS)was established to incorporate the General Education Center and the Department of Applied Foreign Languages. Dr. Yao, Zhen-Li was appointed as acting Dean of the CHSS along with the third GEC director. In order to facilitate the promotion of generation education, the GEC became an academic unit parallel to all colleges of the University after the CHSS was dissolved in 2004, when Dr. Wang Ping took over Dr. Yao's duty. Dr. Wang has been the director of GEC from then until present.

The GEC has 29 faculty members with a wide range of teaching and research interests in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. They support the entire general education program.
