introduction

The Depar tment of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE) was officially formed in 2002. While the program of continuing education was established in 2003, the master’s program was offered in 2008. The Department currently has 29 full-time faculty members, including 4 professors, 12 associate professors, 11 assistant professors, and 2 lecturers. Presently, there are over 1000 students in the undergraduate program and 40 students in the master’s program.

Equipment

There are five technical laboratories and eight research labs in CSIE. These technical laboratories include Cisco Networking Academy Lab., Information Security Lab., IT Certification Training Lab., Information Technology Lab., Penetration test Lab., and Mobile Commerce Lab.

Accredited Program

The Department joined the accredited program of the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) in 2006. The IEET is a non-profit, non-government organization committed to accreditation of engineering and technology education programs in Taiwan.

Features of the Program

The main educational goal of the CSIE is to emphasize a thorough blending of theory and practice. To complete the undergraduate program, students are required to implement a practical project, including project development, reports writing, results presentation and demonstration, and participation of worldwide competitions, with the purpose of leading students to enter a wider field of engineering ethics.

The Department provides academic advice, counseling, and emotional guidance for all students, and helps students obtain information technique certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Red Hat Certified System Adminstrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Fluke Networks Certified Cabling Test Technician (CCTT), EC-Council CEH, CHFI, ECSA, Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP), and Information Technology Expert Certification (ITE).
