INTRODUCTION

Geomatics is also known as Geo-spatial Informatics or Spatial Information Science. The courses offered by the Department include new topics to synthesize surveying engineering and spatial information. The courses are based on the training of integrated skills to collect, measure, analyze, manage, store, display, and apply spatial information. Moreover, the Global Positioning System (GPS), Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS), the so-called 3S Technologies, collaborate with network communication and mobile computation devices to form the Department’s s core courses, in line with the information trends of the 21st century. Furthermore, the University aims to offer an excellent learning environment to educate geomatic students in the capabilities of independent thought, hard work, and full responsibility. Based on 3S and information technologies, and its practical oriented training courses, the Geomatic Department has become distinguished in Taiwan’s high technical education system.
